Emergency tree removal
A tree on the roof, a trunk split down the middle, a big limb hanging over the driveway, a tree leaning on the house after a storm. Those are emergency calls, not schedule-it-for-next-week calls. Get everyone clear of it and call us.Crown & Root Tree Service runs a dedicated emergency team for exactly this, usually there within 1 to 2 hours, and we help with the insurance claim from start to finish.
If a power line is down, sparking or under the tree, call the utility or 911 first. Once the line is safe, our crew takes it from there. More on that on our tree trimming near power lines page.
Not every emergency comes with a storm. A dead tree can drop a limb on a calm day, and we handle those the same way. If the tree is still standing and there is no immediate danger, see our regular tree removal in Tulsa service for a free estimate.
Why storms hit trees hard here
The Tulsa area sees severe spring thunderstorms, straight-line winds and the occasional tornado warning, along with the chance of an ice storm in winter. Both are hard on large limbs especially, ice loads them down and wind catches a full canopy like a sail.
What comes down after a storm is not always safe to deal with yourself, a trunk that looks like it has settled can still be under tension, and a limb hung up in another tree can let go without warning.
What's typically included
- A safety assessment of what is down and what is still at risk
- Cutting up and removing trees or limbs on roofs, fences, driveways and vehicles
- Clearing blocked driveways and walkways
- Flagging anything that needs a follow-up visit, like a cracked trunk left standing
- Help with your insurance claim, photos and paperwork included
We're fully insured, and when a storm does damage, we help customers with the insurance claim from start to finish, documenting what happened and handing you the paperwork your insurer asks for.
A storm doesn't just hit your yard, it hits the whole neighborhood, ours included, and we show up the way we'd want someone to show up for us.

We assess before we cut, a tree that is down and resting under tension needs a different approach than one lying flat and clear. Ground crew stays out of the drop zone while anything hung up or leaning gets brought down in a controlled way.
Debris gets hauled the same day, cut up and cleared, not left stacked at the curb for you to deal with. That is standard on every storm call.

After the storm: what to check
- Look up before you walk under any tree that took wind or ice damage, hung-up limbs are not always obvious from the ground
- Watch trees that lost major limbs for new lean or exposed roots over the following weeks
- Photograph damage before cleanup if you plan to file an insurance claim
- Keep kids and pets away from any tree or limb that took storm damage until it has been checked

How much does storm damage tree removal cost?
The size of the tree or limbs involved, what they are resting on or tangled in, and how much access we have to the site. A limb that is cut up and ready to haul off is a very different job than a leaning trunk still hung up in another tree.
Does homeowners insurance cover tree removal after a storm?
Usually yes when the tree lands on something the policy covers, like the house, a garage or a fence, and many policies also pay a set amount toward hauling the tree away. A tree that comes down in the yard without hitting anything is often not covered. Check your policy or call your agent. Take photos before anything is moved. We are fully insured, we help with what your insurance company asks for, and our emergency crew can be out within 1 to 2 hours.
Who removes trees after a storm, the city or me?
The city clears trees off public streets. A tree on your own property is usually the owner's job. Many towns around Tulsa run limb pickups after big storms, but only for brush stacked at the curb and cut to their size rules, and it can take weeks. We do storm cleanup across Tulsa and the 19 towns around it: we cut it up and haul it off the same day, so you're not waiting on the city.
Can a storm-damaged tree be saved?
Often, yes. If the trunk is solid and the tree lost less than about half its crown, a clean trim of the broken limbs lets it heal, and that costs far less than a removal. A split trunk, a big crack where the main limbs meet, or a tree leaning with its roots lifting out of the ground usually has to come down. We'll tell you straight which one you have at the free estimate.
How fast can you respond after a storm?
We run a dedicated emergency team that only handles storm calls, not whoever happens to be free that day, and we are typically on site within 1 to 2 hours. If a tree is down on your house, car or a structure, call us and describe what happened and we will prioritize anything unsafe.
What counts as an emergency versus a routine cleanup?
A tree resting on your roof, a limb hanging over where people walk or park, or anything tangled in a power line is an emergency. A tree down in an open yard with nothing at risk underneath can usually wait a day or two if needed.
Is it safe to wait on a tree that is down?
It depends what it is resting on and how it is holding. A trunk leaning against a house or fence can shift as it settles or dries out, so that is not something to leave alone. When in doubt, call and describe it to us, we can usually tell you over the phone whether it needs to be treated as urgent.
Do you work with insurance claims?
Both. We're fully insured, and we help customers with storm damage insurance claims from start to finish, documenting the damage with photos and giving you the paperwork your insurer needs.
Do you remove the debris or just cut it up?
We haul it away, that is standard on every storm call, not something you have to ask for separately. The site gets cut up and cleared in the same visit.
Can you clear a fallen tree blocking my driveway after a storm?
Yes. Keep people and vehicles away from the tree and call us to explain what is blocked. We assess what can shift before we cut, clear the driveway and haul the debris away as part of the job. If any wire is down or involved, keep clear and call the utility or 911 first.
What if a power line is involved?
If a line is down, sparking or has a tree lying on it, keep everyone clear and call the utility company or 911 first. Once the line has been made safe, or if a limb is hung up on a line that is still standing, call us. Our crew includes people qualified for tree work near energized lines, so we can take it from there.
