Why trimming matters
Trimming and pruning are most of what we do at Crown & Root Tree Service, and how the tree looks is the smaller part of it. Dead and crossing limbs are weak points, and a crowded canopy holds wind like a sail in a storm. Cutting the right limbs, the right way, is what keeps a tree standing through the next one.
Our approach is to climb the tree instead of parking a bucket truck on the lawn. That lets us reach limbs tucked against the roofline or threaded through power lines without driving equipment across your grass. If a job does call for a bucket truck, we will tell you before any work starts.
What's typically included
- Thinning a crowded canopy so light and wind get through
- Cutting out dead, broken and hanging limbs
- Raising limbs off roofs, driveways and sidewalks
- Clearing limbs away from power lines with a qualified crew (tree trimming near power lines)
- Shaping young trees so they grow strong
We treat every tree like it's growing in our own yard, not just another stop on the schedule.

We rope limbs down instead of letting them free-fall onto flower beds, fences or whatever is parked in the driveway.
Brush and limbs get hauled off the same day. Haul-away is part of every quote, not something we bill extra for. A trimming job is not finished until the yard looks better than it did before the truck pulled in.
What every quote includes
- A free estimate, with a firm price before any work starts
- Cleanup and haul-away, same day
- No extra travel charge anywhere in our service area
- Fully insured crews on every job

Aftercare: what to do once we've left
- Water the tree during hot, dry stretches for the rest of the season after a heavy trim
- Keep an eye on cut sites for new decay or insect activity, especially on older trees
- Hold off attaching swings, lights or wire to freshly cut limbs until they have calloused over
- Call us back ahead of storm season if a tree was heavily thinned and you are worried about wind
Our promise
Safety first
Our climbers work roped in above your roof, your fence and your power lines, not guessing at what's underneath them.
Prepared from the first visit
We look at the whole tree before the first cut, not just the branch that's bothering you, so the shape makes sense once we're done.
No surprises
You get a free estimate and a firm price for the trim before we start, so you know the number before any work begins.
Clean finish
Every limb gets hauled off and every bit of brush gets cleared. The yard looks finished, not like a work site.

How much does tree trimming cost in Tulsa?
Size and height are the biggest factors, along with how many trees need work and how overgrown they are. A tree tangled in power lines or hanging over a roof takes longer and more care than one standing clear in an open yard. Every estimate is free, so you will know the number before you decide anything.
How long does a typical trimming job take?
A single mature tree usually takes a few hours. A full yard with several trees, or anything tangled in lines or close to the house, can run a full day. We will give you a realistic window once we have looked at the job in person.
How often should trees be trimmed?
As a rough starting point, many mature shade trees do well with a trim every few years, and young trees often benefit from lighter shaping more often while they build their structure. Fast growers and anything near a roof or power line may need attention sooner. Every tree and every yard is different, so this is general guidance, not a schedule. When we come out for your free estimate, we will tell you what we see on your tree.
What is the best time of year to trim trees in Tulsa?
Late winter, while the tree is dormant and bare, is usually the easiest time to see its structure and make clean cuts. That said, dead and broken limbs do not wait for the right season, so we will come out any time of year if something is hanging or hazardous.
What is the difference between tree trimming and tree pruning?
Most people use the two words for the same job, and so do we. If there is a difference, pruning is the careful cutting that keeps a tree healthy (dead, broken and crossing branches out), and trimming is shaping it and cutting it back off the roof, the yard or a line. Our tree trimming in Tulsa does both: clean cuts back to a branch or the trunk, no stubs, no topping, and every limb hauled off the same day.
Is it better to trim a tree or cut it down?
If the tree is healthy and the problem is a few limbs over the house or the driveway, trimming costs less and you keep the shade. If it is dead, hollow, split or leaning toward the house, trimming only buys time and removal is the safer call. We'll tell you straight at the free estimate which one makes sense, and give you a firm price for either.
Is cleanup included?
Yes, always. Haul-away and cleanup are part of every job we do, not an add-on, and the limbs leave the same day. We do not leave a pile in your yard when we go.
What will my yard look like afterward?
A good trim should not look dramatic from the ground. You will see more light coming through the canopy and the dead wood gone, but a healthy tree still looks like itself, not stripped or lopsided.
Do you top trees?
No. Topping, cutting main limbs down to stubs, weakens a tree and makes it grow back faster and weaker at the cut points. We thin and shape from inside the canopy instead, which keeps the tree’s structure intact.
What if a truck cannot reach the tree?
That is common, and it usually does not stop us. Our approach is to send climbers up with ropes and a saddle instead of a bucket truck, so a tight side yard, a fenced-in backyard or a tree behind the house does not change what we can do, just how we get set up. If a job does call for heavier equipment, we will tell you before any work starts.
